Remembering this great Monk on his 150th Birth Anniversary.

Today 12th January is the National Youth Day marking the birth anniversary of India’s one of the greatest monk. Swami Vivekananda gave confidence to the nation and showed the path towards social emancipation and moral fortitude. His book “Karm Yoga” was the first book I read and after that it was no stopping. His words carry a power which instills strength into our being. I realized, just following his words is enough for one to stand straight with your head held high. This is a small tribute to this great monk whose words and advises have always been like the torch for me in this fight against fate.

I roll out the red carpet this special day,
and I walk into forever in my own way,
for the scars on my soul have faded,
I have learnt from you, life cannot be traded.

In your words there was strength,
and the strength inside your soul I felt,
you made me grasp it tightly all along,
never letting me quit and do the wrong.

You showed me its best to stay strong,
never to ponder the past and always moving along,
You showed not to let anything put me down,
To keep my head held high and never show a frown.

It was you who made me see
that beauty surrounded even in this world around me,
that life held a reason I need not look too far,
that I could always fix my soul removing all scars.

Yes,
It’s best to stay strong,
think about the rights, not the wrongs.
Free from all the past.

“No need of looking behind, Forward! We want infinite energy, infinite zeal, infinite courage and infinite patience, and then only will great things be achieved.” – These lines by Swami Vivekananda always helped me to move ahead. At times when I did look back and started getting doubts, these words would help me get the energy back to again move on in this rocky journey called life.

This year it is 150th birth anniversary of Swamiji. My salutation to this great monk! Whole nation is today celebrating this special day. I hope we don’t end up just wishing him but also try to follow his footsteps. I am sure he needs that more than our wishes. It’s the need of the hour.
