The oldest blogger passes away!!!

María Amelia López Soliño

While surfing around yesterday, suddenly I came across a news item telling that María Amelia López Soliño, considered to be the oldest blogger, has passed away.

She had gained a big global following. On 20th May, 2009 she had logged off for the last time, leaving behind almost century of stories. She had started blogging in 2006 when her grandson had presented it to her on her 95th birthday. “Today it’s my birthday and my grandson, who is very stingy, gave me a blog,” is what she wrote in her first post of the blog.

Her posts became big hit as they covered many political issues being commented upon in humor besides her writings on old age riffs. Later on she herself confessed that the blog proved a great escape and she was happy to now communicate with so many around the world.

After media covered the blog it started getting hits in millions. No wonder even the Spanish Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero also dropped in once for a chat. The blog is mostly in Spanish but there are snippets in english too.

Even The Hindu did an article on her blog. Here you all can read it.

She is really an inspiration for all. Old age did not make her sit and wait for the end. She made sure to be full of life. Hope we too have similar productive life.

I really respect and admire even his grandson to come out with such a gift. And kudos to her too for making sure to properly utilise the same.

May her soul rest in peace!!!!
